I spent yesterday sewing, made my curtains (valances) in my sewing/guest room, I finished a pair of crop pants ( Mint/blue & white) for myself, also made a red & white scoop nect top for me, not to wear together. I am trying to get some summer clothes made for trip to Colorado. I have white top for pants, and will make white ones to go with the red top. I have sundress cut out in a med blue. I have not worn a sundress in quite a while, however I like them as they are very cool and comfortable.
It has been a busy time here, We are almost done with the planting, just a very few acres. We have been working on getting the mower ready. It is time to get some hay put up. We have had to add a 3rd calf to the bottle feeding as it was not getting enough from the mother cow. The grandkids enjoyed helping with that when they were here. Eva's favorite was the little red and white one.
Micah went on his first tractor ride with grandpa and even got to "drive" a little with help of course. Amelia & Sophia enjoyed the pool and being outside. I forget how much energy the young ones take. I did so enjoy them.

Visiting grandkids
Ok I am back to posting, have had a week off because I have had my grandkids visiting, we found many things to do that they enjoyed. I think they actually enjoy just the regular farm things the most, cooking, swiming, swinging, chores with cousin Evan. Not all got to do the same things, but was fun anyway. They all tried new things. The city kids andthe farm kids had fun.

Lavendar
If you would like to dry lavender, Harvest in morning so that you will get the best fragrance. Tie in a bundle and hang upside down in a cool, dry, well ventilated area, out of direct sunlight. It will take 7-10 days. Take down and rub the buds over a piece of parchment paper. Store in air tight jar in dark area. I use small ones such as you get the bulk yeast in or small jelly jars, baby food jars would work also. Use them to make sachets, or potpourri, could use in muslin bag in the bath as well. It is very relaxing, and smells wonderful.
Drying Lavendar
I have been drying some lavendar for sachets. I will look into some other uses. I am told you can use in cooking also. I have tried the lavendar Jelly, I believe it is an aquired taste however. I do enjoy my herbs of all kinds. I have mint, basil, and chives also.

Sunny day here, so made so sun tea, apple hermit cookies, and have bread rising. I am making
plans of things to do when some of the two of granddaughters are her next week. I have been working a step stool or I should say, helping my grandson with it. It will be a craft project for the local county
fair, will post when it is completed.

rainy Saturday, so made Texas sheet cake to take to church BBQ. It is one of our annual money makers, money goes to missions, and parsonage upkeep.
also made the base for a fruit pizza, will finish it tomorrow. I have been busy doing some sewing for granddaughter's, basic clean up, organizing my kitchen, trying to get rid of the excess.
hubby has been working on repair of mower(hay) had to go to Fort Scott for parts, wondering if we should have brought a new one, repairs are adding up on a daily basis.

I know it has been awhile, since I last posted, I have been busy, visiting my daughter in Salina, and to help with her four kids, while her husband is away on business.
Another reason is that our internet service was down, we have a wireless and it seems to come and go as it pleases. I thank God for the it when it does work. The rain is holding up the progress with getting our crops in. We have taken some things to auction though both to help with cash flow, and just to clean up and get rid of the things we no longer need. It does give us time to work on equipment that needs repaired. We did get a pickup up and running, was able to get flat bed on it. I must say it looks good. I am sure it will be a good addition to our operation.

It has been a bit since I last posted, a very busy time of year, grandson graduates from 8th grade, I know that isn't done much anymore, but it is a sign of becoming a mature teenager. Rain is slowing the planting down for us, but still alot of work to be done, repairs and maintenance on equipment. The Lord is allowing us to accomplish other things, such yard work, taking salvage to the recycle center, getting a feed truck fixed. We will be able to have the graduation party without the worry of not being in the field.
We have been harvesting aspargus from the garden and fixing some tasty dishes with it. I am finding many ways of fixing it., one we enjoy is aspargus quiche....yumm
I must return to the yard & garden work, so good to be outside in sunshine and enjoy the blessing the Lord gives us.

It has been a busy week, helped hubby load and take cattle out to pasture, worked a day a vet clinic. I took time out to clean out my vehicle, was able to complete my kitchen island by attaching the counter top to it. It looks great and is very usuable. It has improved my usable counter space greatly. Hubby able to get a load of salvage out yesterday. He has started the work on pickup, needs transmission work, also changing the bed to use as a feed truck. It will be an improvement. He will also be able to use it with the portable welder for repairs in the field.

This day did not go as I planned, My "to do" list was thrown out the window when I ended up
helping take cattle to grass instead of the usual household chores and things I had on my list.
however I did make it to UMW for a lesson by Linda Born author of "My mother has Alzhiemers." It was very good. She tells how God is present in her mother even though she has been diagnosed with the desease. and also how he helps her as the care giver of her mother the last 5 yrs.
My adult son was admitted to to the hospital with severe back pain. I continue with prayers for him. I am grateful for the care he recieves and pray for an answer to his problem.
This is the way all of life goes when we take the time to live it and enjoy the way things.

Today was a rainy cool day, clinic busier than usual since the weather was so nasty.. Hubby had a couple of claims to do. He is part time crop adjuster. This was done after the morning chores of calf and sheep tending and feeding. It is a day for working in the shop on clean up and organization. We do some salvage sells as well, by that I mean we take as much used iron, steel, etc. to a salvage and recycle center. We do this to help in clean up and cash flow for our operation. Farming is rewarding but requires us to do many things when not the season for planting, harvesting, or weather does not allow us to do the field work.
