Clay pot Chrismas trees.

I have started crafting at the church with some of ladies. We make a craft or bring one to work. The most recent was the clay pot Christmas trees. The pots we used are 2", 3" and 4" and one 4"saucer
I found this on Pinterest. charlieandmattie.blogspot.com  They are very easy to do. I suggest you season the pots with a sealer, then use a spray paint in your choice of color. I used the pencil eraser end to make the Bulbs, One of our ladies used the end of sponge paint stick which made better bulbs. A dowel end would work also.  I then sprinkled white glitter over the freshly painted bulbs while wet to give them a shimmer. We used a sponge type paintbrush to brush Elmer"s glue on the rims of the pots, holding the pot over a file folder sprinkled white glitter on it. On the rims the sprinkle was a little heavier to give the look of snow. When completed spray with a sealer to preserve it. We had a friend cut a 2" circle out of a 2x4. He painted it brown to give the look of trunk. I cut 2" Star out of glitter paper with my cricut. we used popscyle stick and glued one to each side. Put it through the top pot. Starting with the saucer then 4',3',2' stacked then on the trunk. For information on cricut go to www.cricut.com

Mason jar

Make a template of your lid with the pump of purchased soap dispenser. Mark lid and cut with tin snips. The hole should be a little smaller than the middle portion of pump so that the top part rest on the lid . Use e2000 to glue it vdown. If desired.

Visits

Addison Renee
As you can tell I don't write on my blog on a regular basis. I have now accepted a position as Flint Hills District Secretary in our UMW organization. Among those duties is attending three church UMW meetings as a shepherdess. I have had the pleasure of attending, both Emporia Grace and Miller United Methodist Women's meeting in the last 2 weeks. It is such a blessing to meet these women of faith. They have been both gracious and uplifting to me. I have learned a lot from them. At Miller I shared the book "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp.

I have been blessed with two great grand children. The following pictures were taken the day they were born Addison was born March 26th  Brantley was born May 4th They are cousins, because parents are brother and sister.

With  The Lords guidance in my life, He will  help and show me better time management and organization daily.  I have so many ideas and some will end up on the blog hopefully with pictures to show.
The family is working on getting Cows to pasture and crops planted. Fixing fence, cutting down brush and clearing fields.
As I write this my older grandson is mowing the yard. He has purchased a 66 Mustang and works on it. He has it running and drives it to school all the time. He really like to work on vehicles. He has fix up an older GMC pickup of his Mom's. Grandpa uses him to help with any mechanical work on tractors or truck.

I have been working on pillowcase dresses. These little sundress were originally made from pretty pillow cases.
Mine are made from fabric I had on hand, measured to the correct measurements sewn in a tube to mimic the pillow cases. It takes1 yd of 36" to 45" fabric. I used coordinating bias to encase the armholes and the neck line,I also in closed the bottom for a decorative hemline. Make an armhole 2" in on each side and down 6" for small and 7" for med. cutting in a curve. For the neckline, cut down about 1" making a curve as well. Use bias to finish the armholes. Fold down 1/4" and stitch, fold down 1 to 1/4 " and stitch for the casing on both the front and back. Use a  ribbon to thread though the necklines and gather it up. leaving the ends long enough to tie in pretty bows on the shoulders. If you like you may stitch across each end after threading the ribbon through to keep it from coming out when you launder.

Fall is here

It has been quite a while since I wrote in my blog and even longer since I posted some of the things I have been working on. I am continually working on my crafts. I have made some novelty Kool-aid and foil juice pouch children's purses. I am working on sewing for myself in trying to update my wardrobe a bit. Our garden produce was not good this fall so my canning has been very light. I continue to bake making cookies. breads, cakes and pies. Getting ready for Halloween for the grand kids.
We finally fired up the wood stove last week just to take the chill off. I love the fall with the colors of the leaves and cooler temps, but I don't look forward to the winter with the freezing weather, snow drifts and cabin fever. I stockpile things to work on to make the winter blahs go faster.
I just finished reading the book "The Help" It is a quick read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it to you. I haven't seen the movie but I look forward to watching it when it comes out in video or on TV.  I don't go to the theater any more, it requires more time and money and with the tight financial situation it isn't enjoyable to me.

4th of July

It has been awhile since I posted anything. I have been busy with making aprons, garden and VBS at Church. I had 2 of my grandchilden during the week. The heat is about to take care of everything I have in garden. I have harvested a few things. I do enjoy being able to make meals out of the garden. I did have a craft booth along with my daughter on Saturday during the festivities. She was able to make some
sells on her things, not so well for me. The crowds didn't seem as big as last year or years pastI need a model for the aprons or a dress form, even a manquin would work. Pictures of them laid out just don't do them justice. I have several patterns some are my own creation, I like to be creative and change them in some way, no two are alike. I used McCalls pattern #6132 for the adult ones.
